Field Mapping
RunScore includes features such as age processing that depend on specific, named database fields. These fields are mapped in Entries.ini using the commands below.
Mapping commands
| Command | Argument |
|---|---|
DATE OF BIRTH FIELD | [FIELD_NAME] |
AGE FIELD | [FIELD_NAME] |
YEAR FIELD | [FIELD_NAME] |
MONTH FIELD | [FIELD_NAME] |
DAY FIELD | [FIELD_NAME] |
USAT AGE FIELD | [FIELD_NAME] |
BIRTH DATE FIELD | [FIELD_NAME] |
SMS PREFIX FIELD | [FIELD_NAME] |
If the field name matches the default value (e.g., AGE or BIRTHDATE), the mapping command can be omitted.
Automated age values written to AGE FIELD and USAT AGE FIELD use AGE AS OF DATE when that command is set; otherwise they use RACE DATE.
Listing files no longer accept BIRTH DATE FIELD, DATE OF BIRTH FIELD, YEAR FIELD, MONTH FIELD, or DAY FIELD. Map birth dates here, in Entries.ini.
Birth Date Field
Syntax:
BIRTH DATE FIELD [FIELD_NAME]
DATE OF BIRTH FIELD [FIELD_NAME]
Parameter:
[FIELD_NAME] — The database field that holds each participant's full date of birth.
Description:
Tells automatic Age Processing where to read birth dates. BIRTH DATE FIELD and DATE OF BIRTH FIELD are aliases and behave identically. When a birth date field is mapped, RunScore uses it instead of YEAR FIELD, MONTH FIELD, and DAY FIELD.
If the database field is named BIRTHDATE, the command can be omitted.
Example:
Every sample race's Entries.ini maps the birth date and age fields this way:
date of birth field birthdate
age field AGE
- Birth dates must use the format set by
DATE FORMAT. With a two-digit year, RunScore picks the century from the race year, so a four-digit year format such asMM/DD/YYYYis safer. - If the field does not exist in the database, RunScore shows a "Can't find DATE OF BIRTH field" message when it loads
Entries.iniand skips the rest of the file.
Year, Month, and Day Fields
Syntax:
YEAR FIELD [FIELD_NAME]
MONTH FIELD [FIELD_NAME]
DAY FIELD [FIELD_NAME]
Parameter:
[FIELD_NAME] — The database field that holds that part of the date of birth.
Description:
For databases that store the date of birth in separate fields. RunScore uses them only when no birth date field is mapped.
AGE FIELDneeds all three fields.USAT AGE FIELDneeds onlyYEAR FIELD, because it uses calendar-year age. Map onlyYEAR FIELDif you collect just the birth year.
If the database fields are named YY, MM, and DD, the commands can be omitted.
If the full date of birth is in one field, map a birth date field instead.
