Tips and Tricks
Lesser-known shortcuts and workflow tips.
Switch events without the mouse
On the Results screen, hold Alt and press the number key for the event you want to switch to, or click the combo-box next to the event name.
Jump to Enter/Edit Names from the Results screen
Press Alt-E from Enter/Edit Results to switch to the Enter/Edit Names screen for the highlighted bib — useful for fixing a record or adding a missing entrant on the fly.
Run a listing file with one click
On the Listings screen, double-click a file name to run it immediately — equivalent to selecting it and pressing Enter.
Auxiliary entry computers don't need their own database
If several computers are collecting bib numbers or times, only the master computer needs the actual entries database. Auxiliary computers can run as pure collection stations without a local copy.
Running more than one race at once
If you're scoring two or more races back-to-back or side-by-side, use a separate computer for each — don't try to run both from one machine. Give each race a non-overlapping bib-number range (e.g. one starting at 1, the other at 1000); about 1% of runners register for the wrong race, and non-overlapping ranges make that easy to catch. A second computer also doubles as a backup if one machine has a problem.
Controlling RunScore's warning and error sounds
RunScore uses two system sounds. To change them, open Windows Control Panel > Sounds and set:
- Asterisk — plays for general notifications (data received, download complete)
- Exclamation — plays for warnings and errors (duplicate bib, initialization failure)
